I graduated from The Art Institute of Dallas with a degree in Visual Communications and worked as a graphic designer for over 15 years before switching my focus over exclusively to fine art. Drawing has always been a passion of mine since elementary school. Through the graphic design industry, I have experience in various editorial illustration mediums from graphite, markers, and colored pencils to gouache, watercolor, acrylics, and soft pastels.
My artwork has been exhibited and won awards at the Pastel Society of the Southwest's National Juried Exhibition, Pastel Society of Southeast Texas Signature National Juried Exhibition, State Fair of Texas, Winnsboro Center for the Arts, Forney Arts Council Top 40 Regional Juried Show, Rockwall Art League Annual Art Show, and the Mineola League of the Arts Annual Fine Art Juried Show. I was honored with the People's Choice Award at both the MLOTA 2014 and 2016 Fine Art Juried Show for my pastel artwork. I have been privileged to paint murals in two elementary public school libraries as well.
In addition to portraits, still life, and landscapes in soft pastels on sanded paper, I also enjoy creating textured abstract florals using acrylics and modeling paste on canvas, and have recently started painting watercolor architecture portraits.
Currently, I am a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of the Southwest, International Association of Pastel Societies, the Forney Arts Council, and the Rockwall Art League.
“Your profession is not what brings home your paycheck. Your profession is what you were put on earth to do with such passion and such intensity that it becomes spiritual in calling.”
